At the heart of our organisation lies a commitment to upholding the inherent dignity and rights of all individuals, irrespective of their migration status. By fostering a culture of solidarity and support, we strive to create a more inclusive and compassionate society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Objectives

Our commitment extends to educating refugees on the importance of education, tolerance, and acceptance of others. We act as a liaison between local authorities and the refugee/asylum community, identifying their needs and challenges, and providing feedback to the relevant authorities. Additionally, we offer voluntary opportunities to refugees and asylum seekers, facilitating their integration into wider society. Our objectives:

(a) to promote the benefit of the communities of Sudan in Greater Manchester and throughout England and wales without distinction of sex, race or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together the people of the above communities and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said community.

(b) to establish, or secure the establishment of, a community centre (thereafter called "the centre") and to manage the same (whether alone or in co-operation with any local authority or other person or body) in furtherance of these objects.

(c) Assist refugees in accessing services and opportunities equitably, with the aim of preventing all manifestations of poverty and enabling individuals to achieve their maximum potential.

(d) to promote such other exclusively charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined.

Our History

In 2020, the Solidarity & Support Organisation (SSO) was established in response to the pressing need for humanitarian assistance and guidance for individuals who find themselves among the most vulnerable, compelled to flee their homes and livelihoods due to internal and external oppressive factors. Recognising the urgency of the situation, SSO was founded with a clear mission to provide aid, support, and advocacy to those facing displacement and upheaval.

The organisation's primary focus lies in identifying and prioritising vulnerabilities among displaced populations, meticulously mapping gaps in existing support systems, and diligently tracking emerging issues to offer sustainable solutions. By leveraging a proactive approach, SSO aims to address the multifaceted challenges faced by migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, with a commitment to upholding their rights and dignity throughout the process.

As individuals newly arrive in unfamiliar territories, navigating the complexities of a foreign culture and community, SSO plays a pivotal role in facilitating their integration and adaptation. Through comprehensive programs encompassing essential knowledge, practical training, and compassionate humanitarian support, SSO empowers displaced individuals to navigate their transition with resilience and confidence.

Moreover, SSO recognizes the inherent strength and resilience of those it serves, viewing them not merely as beneficiaries of aid but as active participants in their own journey toward rebuilding their lives. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, empowerment, and solidarity, SSO endeavours to create a supportive environment where every individual's potential can flourish, regardless of their background or circumstances.

In essence, SSO stands as a beacon of hope and support for those who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety and refuge. With a steadfast commitment to humanitarian principles and a dedication to promoting dignity and rights, SSO strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of displaced individuals, offering them the support they need to rebuild and thrive in their new communities.
